BSIR is excited to announce the highly anticipated trainee programme at this year’s conference, featuring fantastic sessions dedicated exclusively to trainees. Spanning two days on Wednesday and Thursday, this programme is designed to provide invaluable insights, advice, and opportunities to the future stars of interventional radiology.
The event kicks off on Wednesday with an inspiring talk by Dr. Shian Patel (past chair) and Dr. Katrina Harborne (current chair), offering a deep dive into life as an interventional radiologist and tips on making the most of BSIR as a trainee. Following this, attendees will have the chance to take part in an exhilarating “Dragons’ Den”-style competition, where the best research idea will receive funding and mentorship to develop the project on a national scale.
Thursday promises even more excitement, with the IR juniors team hosting talks tailored for resident doctors interested in radiology and radiology residents seeking insight into working in the industry. The afternoon features presentations from consultants who have recently completed their training, sharing practical tips and tricks on navigating emergency IR procedures. The day will wrap up with expert advice from a newly appointed consultant Dr. Mark Gregory on how to secure the perfect interventional radiology consultant job, including guidance on negotiating job plans.
